My published short-short is up for 2 more days
How time flies! I've been so busy these last 2 1/2 months, I haven't done half the things I've intended to do. One of the things that was high on my list, and I still failed to do, was notify this community about the short story that I got published in the online magazine Flash Me.

I'm published in the October 31, 2008 issue, available here: http://www.wingedhalo.com/flashme.html
My story is the third one down: "The Silent". It's a 550-word dark fantasy tale. This story has been near and dear to my heart for a long time. I'm so glad it finally found a home in print. :)

Just to add one happiness on top of another, I recently got a request from a sweet man named Sergio, asking if he could translate the story into Portuguese for one of his blogs. I was thrilled, and the publisher was happy to grant him the electronic rights. (The chief editor at Flash Me, Jennifer Dawson, is really very nice.)

This is only the second time I'll have the honor of seeing one of my works translated into another language. Mona ([info]belegcuthalion) was first to make my day that way, when she was kind enough to translate Wormtongue into German for her site: http://www.cuthalionsbogen.de
Huge hugs to you again!

The new issue of Flash Me will go on sale January 31, 2009. I'm sure back issues of the October issue will still be available, but I thought I'd better get this notice out quick, just in case.

I hope everyone is having a delightful week! I'll talk to you soon-- that's a promise!

My pleasure, dear... and I FINALLY found the time to read your big Sam h/c-saga. My, that was GOOD (I don't know if LJ still notifies you of comments - there should be one for each chapter. :-D)

Congrats to your printed tale - I'm currently writing a crime story and am stubbornly determined to find a publisher as soon as it's done. May it work this time (as it worked for you!)

Oh, thank you so much! I've been so absent from LJ-- just too many 12-hour days, when you add in the commuting. But I'm going to go through that story and savor every comment of yours. *hugs*

Best of luck with your story. I've decided to hold off marketing my books at the moment. The publishing industry is having tons of layoffs, just as everywhere else. I'm going to concentrate on short stories at the moment, as mags that are still around still need their content. It's grim times here in the USA. *blows you kisses*

I know. That is, I suspect as much-- but I see so many of my friends out of work here. Is it that bad everywhere?

That terrible greed. This is what it leads to. *sigh*

My husbad began his new job in July last year... after having lost the job before and being incredibly lucky that he found a much better one pretty fast.

Today we found out that his company is insolvent. Yes, it is that bad everywhere.

Best wishes to both of you. I think none of us know how long we'll be employed. I really wonder what's in store for us.

Thank you!

And I mean to make an entry about this, but in case I forget, you must look into Pete Egoscue. He SAVED me at work with his wonderful preventive and corrective exercises. Look up "Pain Free" or "Pain Free at Your PC". I LOVE THIS MAN!!!

Yeah, I forgot to mention that-- only the "featured" story is posted for the world to see. But I will be killed if I distribute it myself-- they're very tough about that.

Thank you!

Hi, Mariole. Sorry I haven't been around today. Had my cardio stress test and I'm knocked out. I hope to read your story tomorrow.

That's wonderful news. I hope I can find that issue so I can read your story, but I did read and enjoy "For the Time Being" a year or so ago.

Yay! I'm so glad you liked FTTB. One of these days I hope to bring it back into print-- perhaps when my second book comes out. ...whenever that is!

It's been a good year. It's amazing how much easier it is to sell stories when you actually put them in the mail.... but you've got to be able to overlook the rejections. It's just so fun to be out there playing again. :)

LOL! Thank goodness someone is channeling Sam for me-- I can really use the help. *offers you a bloody stump of a hand-- aren't you glad you volunteered?*

I'm way behind in sending my stories out. Over the last two months most of them have come back. I have to update my marketing spreadsheet again and get them back out in the mail. Some of the magazines have closed since I started this exercise last summer-- so sad.

Thank you, Tree! I'm happy, too. :)

I just checked the web site. You can find my story in the archive-- although you still have to purchase a subscription to read it. At least it's available! Cheers.
